JoT This Down: Facebook Is Apple on the Wrong Path?
Oct 01

Here we go with the second Webmacster87.info Best Of. The first one was posted in the middle of August and covered the my entire summer break, and was posted right before school started. Now, it’s been seven weeks since school started, and plenty has happened in that much time. In History, for example, we’ve already covered the years 1790-1860–that’s 70 years in seven weeks! And, as you’ll see below, a lot more has happened in these seven weeks. So, without further ado…

Significant Posts from this Blog:

First Week of School
Man, I got so used to the coziness of summer that school was one heck of a wake up call.

PTA Goes to College
The only real reason that I write these itinerary posts is because I know Skoker goes ballistic whenever I go flying.

Final Recap: Webmacster87.info Month of Reviews
I did it! They’re finally done! I don’t have to write any more of them! (For awhile, anyway.)

Let’s Clog Up the Rumor Mill, Round 4
Let’s watch Douglas foolishly make keynote predictions and then be 100% wrong again.

Why It Will Be Beneficial for Apple NOT to Stop the iPhone Unlocks
But since when does Apple listen to good, common sense?

Happy Anniversary to BART!
I congratulate the transportation backbone of the Bay Area for 35 wonderful years of operating.

Guest Blog Articles
I wrote a number of guest blog articles over the last seven weeks which have made their appearance on a few places (and which probably have robbed some content off of this blog, but oh well). I highly recommend that you check them out.

Lorelle on WordPress: Ways to Build and Retain Your Podcast Audience
Starting a podcast is easy. Building an audience and keeping them tuned in is the hard part.

Lorelle on WordPress: Blogging and Social Networking as a Teenager
What are teenagers doing on the web today? Why is blogging as a teenager important? And for the parents out there, how much of a watchdog should you be?

Lorelle on WordPress: Douglas Bell Interviews Lorelle - Excellent!
Douglas promotes the PreviewCast interview he did with Lorelle VanFossen (see below).

Other Places on the Web Where I Popped Up:

I’ve appeared on Lorelle’s blog a couple of times, and her latest Weekly Digest sums up my appearances pretty well.

I was mentioned on the WordPress Podcast Episode 28.

Favorite Podcast Episodes
On August 14th, I got the word that both PreviewCast and phpBB Weekly were accepted as members of the exclusive Tech Podcast Network. PreviewCast, however, had a six week outage, so most of the highlights in this section come from phpBB Weekly.

phpBB Weekly #027
A packed episode where we talk about phpBB3 modules and much much more.

phpBB Weekly #029 - Guest Yuriy Rusko
Finally, we get a guest on phpBB Weekly and don’t get overly technical.

phpBB Weekly #031
Douglas takes over the show again to talk about the interesting subject of banning.

PreviewCast #044: What Podcasters Won’t Tell You About Blogging
In this spectacular interview, Douglas and Lorelle VanFossen cover various important topics on blogs, and discuss Lorelle’s new book. This episode is a MUST-listen!

It’s time for a new month, which (for me) will feature a number of meetings, a movie presentation at school, a trip to Long Beach, an upgrade to WordPress 2.3, Halloween, and potentially more! Stay tuned to Webmacster87.info for everything else that I’m doing, and the next Best Of which will land on Thursday, November 1st!
