Yep, it’s time once again for the California State PTA Convention, this year in beautiful Sacramento, California! Seasoned Webmacster87.info readers obviously know about my deep involvement in the PTA, and therefore also know that every April/May I go to the State PTA’s Convention to hang out with a bunch of people who are as crazy/compassionate as I am about PTA!

No really, Convention is a lot of fun.

So what’s my not-so-detailed-that-you-could-track-me-down-and-molest-me itinerary? Well, tomorrow, immediately after school (actually, after 6th period, I’m skipping 7th), I’ll be going right over to the Millbrae BART station, and then taking that to Richmond. At Richmond, I’ll transfer to the Amtrak Capitol Corridor train which will go to Sacramento. I’ll then get picked up by one of the 17th District people already over there to check in at our hotel. (We’re at the Sheraton Grand Hotel!)

Thursday morning, I’m up bright and early to go to the Convention Center for Registration. I’ll probably then take that early opportunity to browse through the PTA Store. The Bylaws Hearing is at 9-10 AM, the Resolutions Hearing (there’s 5 of them this year!!!) is 11 AM-1 PM, and the Student orientation is 1 PM-4 PM. I’ll probably need to squeeze a lunch in there somewhere (something I forgot to do last year). Then, 4-7 PM will be the first General Meeting. At 8 PM, 17th District will be having dinner at the Pyramid Alehouse.

Friday morning at 7 AM will be the Resolutions Hearing (yes, I do actually get up early to go to those), followed by the first two conference workshops, which will be “New Unit Presidents Part 1 - Resources” and “Students & Legislation - Youth Can Make the Difference”. Then will be lunch, and I might or might not go through the Exhibit Hall (there’s lots of food there!) during this time. 2 PM is the second General Meeting, and at 7:30 PM, 17th District will be having dinner at the Lucca restaurant.

Saturday is an early morning starting at 6 AM for the Healthy Lifestyles Walk for Kids, which will go on for about half an hour or until I decide to stop walking. When I’m through with that, I may go to the 7 AM Resolutions Hearing (might be a bit late for that). Then, Saturday’s two workshops are “Building a Youth Movement in Your Community” and “New Unit Presidents Part 2 - Doing the Job”. Then will be lunch again. If I didn’t go to the exhibit hall on Friday, I’ll go Saturday. Then, once again, 2 PM is the 3rd general meeting, and then 7:30-11 PM (don’t know if I’ll last that long) will be the State’s “VIVA PTA!” party (with a Cinco de Mayo theme).

And then Sunday morning will involve packing up and then going to the 4th General Meeting at 9 AM. Afterwards, Kathryn Cross (our 17th District president) will probably get me into the State board’s wrap-up lunch, and then she’s going to drive us all back home.

Like last year, I will have my computer and my camera with me, but because internet access is a whopping $10/day, I probably will not have any internet access during my stay (which is fine with me). I do look forward to having a great time. There’s going to be 5 resolutions this year, and for the first time in State’s 110-year history, someone is going to be running from the floor for President-Elect! Should be fun…

Wish me luck in getting my homework done! See everyone again Sunday afternoon/evening.
