UPDATE 7/25/08: For those of you looking back at my old posts, all posts preceding January 2007 are no longer available. This post talks about what happened to my posts from January 2005-October 2006, and posts from October-December 2006 were removed today as I reorganized the categories on this blog (don’t worry, you’re not missing much). Sorry for any inconvenience, but effective immediately, this is now the first post on my blog. Thanks for dropping by!
Yessir! I am so excited to have my blog once again be Webmacster87.info. I know some of you don’t like .info domains and think that I’m a sucker for liking them, but heck, I’m cheesy that way.
Anyway, ever since the boom and then the bust of Larry’s hosting company AMacGeniusMedia and Skoker’s hosting company BuffetHosting, Webmacster87.info has been down. Out of an urge to get myself back onto the blogosphere, I set up a blog on WordPress.com and called it Webmacster87@WordPress.com, out of no better idea what to call it. The spirit of Webmacster87.info lived on here, but, you know, I’ve been quite fond of the Webmacster87.info name and have gotten attached.
So, in late October, the excellent WordPress.com guys (I met them at WordCamp) launched the Domain Mapping feature here at WordPress.com, which allowed you to add a domain to a blog and use that domain instead of the blogname.wordpress.com subdomain you’re given. I read that, and said, “Woah, cool! I’ll have to try that sometime…” and forgot about it.
Well, that sometime was today. I’ve paid my $10 and I’ve adjusted my DNS and now, what was my obscure WordPress.com blog is now my very own beloved Webmacster87.info, hosted by WordPress.com! (And this is one host I know won’t screw up.)
If you’re still going to http://webmacster87.wordpress.com, WP.com will automatically redirect you to the new URL (aren’t they great?).
So enjoy the return of W87.info!
